Sustainable cities: low-carbon policy for the urban energy transition
Greifswald | Berlin
IKEM Academy 2016: Energy and the Environment focussed on the topic of sustainable cities and was held from 17–22 July in Greifswald and Berlin. The six-day programme addressed the policy, social, health, economic, and mobility challenges that climate change presents for today’s cities. Participants evaluated the impact of climate change at a global and then urban level, shared in-depth insights into low-carbon policy solutions for major urban sectors like transport and buildings, discussed case studies on sustainability strategies from major cities around the world, and visited a wind energy farm and renewable electricity storage plant.
